Health insurance protects you and your loved ones against financial losses resulting from sickness or accidental bodily injury. Depending on the health insurance plan you have selected, direct costs (hospital bills, medical procedures and physician consultations) are usually covered. Indirect costs, like lost wages, are sometimes reimbursed as well. Beyond emergency care, health insurance policies often cover regular checkup, lab tests, prescription medications and other routine procedures. For those with vision impairment, health policies often include corrective lenses (glasses or contacts) and ophthalmologist visits.
